If you already know about midi and just want to start using the midi files you can
start on the midi links page. If you're new to midi, keep reading....
Midi stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and it began back in the early
1980s when people were looking for a way of connecting two synthesizers together
- they were succesful, but over the years it's become more than just a piece of electric
string. For us, it's probably easiest to think of it as the electronic equivalent
of sheet music, but without the necessity of learning how to read or play it - that's
what we have computers for! So, in the simplest case, we can just click on a link
in our web browser and the computer plays the music for us (your PC needs speakers
or a pair of headphones!). If that's all you want to do, go to the midi links page
and you can listen to the songs we've started to rehearse.
For those of a (slightly) more adventurous disposition, there's more!
